Caregivers are often referred by their General Practitioner, or Family Doctor, for Mental Health services for their child. Sometimes doctors may refer your child for a specific modality, or therapy strategy, or your insurance company may only cover a certain therapy strategy. However, our therapists often use a wide variety of modalities in their sessions with your child, in order to best help your child reach their therapy goals.
Why is this the case? Often one approach to therapy is not always appropriate for your child’s individual needs, but another type of strategy may be better suited for your child. Our therapists are very keen in adapting their approach to what works best for your child and your family.
These are some of the modalities that our therapists may use within a therapy session:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) [LINK]
- Exposure Therapy [LINK]
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) [LINK]
- Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
- Narrative Therapy
- Experiential and Humanistic therapies
- Psychodynamic therapies
- Somatic therapies
- Systemic and Collaborative therapies
