Computer Training Services
We serve a population of children who are learning to use technology and assistive software programs as an alternative for written output. These children may use assistive technology in the classroom and are needing assistance with typing skills or learning how to incorporate the programs into their school tasks.
What:
We examine the strengths of the child and trial different software options to determine what builds on those strengths.
Programs:
We run one on one computer assessments to determine if assistive technology is an appropriate avenue for the child’s strengths. We can work on an individual basis to teach computer skills and use of assistive software. This involves trialing different software programs to determine effectiveness and functionality and recommending typing programs for practice. We are able to prescribe and request funding for appropriate technology and software to our school boards based on the child’s individual needs.
