Supporting children and families with fostering strong attachments, building resilience, and working through adversity plays a big role in healthy and positive child development. Social workers and psychotherapists work collaboratively with children, youth and their families to support this healthy development by working on skill building and strengthening children’s capacity for coping.
Through the creation of a therapeutic relationship with a child and their family, therapists create a safe space for children to explore change. Our Social Workers and Psychotherapists also offer parenting support and parent coaching to further build on a family’s strengths and develop meaningful change. Therapists additionally work with families to assess needs and create individualized treatment plans and provide one to one support.

All new clients (or clients returning after a 6 month gap in treatment) will require a 60 minute assessment as part of the treatment process. An initial assessment allows therapists to learn more about a child and family. During this assessment, your therapist may ask you about your child’s background information such as early development, school history, presenting concerns, etc in order to gain a better understanding of your child and family’s needs. During this session, your therapist will also provide you with a brief treatment plan and recommendations for treatment. This assessment session will also help therapists and families determine best fit, as children and families thrive in treatment that best fits their needs. At times, children and families may present with needs that are beyond a therapist’s scope of practice, as it is common for therapists to vary with their specialties or approaches to treatment. If this is to occur, your therapist will work with you to explore alternate referrals and resources, and will assist you in finding the appropriate approach to treatment.
