SUMMARY:Optimism All-Stars (formerly Happy Hour)
DESCRIPTION:“Optimism All-Stars” (formerly Happy Hour)\nGrowing up can be hard and although we know we can’t make the hard stuff go away\, we can learn and practice some protective factors that help lighten the load and develop resiliency. Happy Hour is a 6-week 1 hr group structured program designed to help your child develop strategies that facilitate greater overall happiness\, promote healthy coping skills\, and encourages self-compassion. \nSome topics/activities include: \n\nMindfulness\nTaking care of your body\nCultivating gratitude\nRandom acts of kindness\nFinding your strengths\nHumour\nFinding ways to bounce back\n\nDuring each session\, your child will be working on building their own coping skills toolbox. Parents will be asked to provide a cardboard box or plastic container\, the approximate size of a small shoebox\, to aid your child to build this toolbox. DESCRIPTION:Girls Night |  Ages  11 -13\nThe ability to be able to talk openly and understand common (and maybe not so common) concerns about development is crucial for our wellness and social development. The goal of Girls Night is to have open\, honest conversations\, develop and share strategies\, improve self-awareness\, and understand that you’re not alone. Growing up can be hard! Each session will be dedicated to a certain topic. Your child is encouraged to bring forward questions\, concerns\, and obstacles they may have or might be experiencing and together we develop problem solving techniques and with the support of the facilitator\, design the strategies for managing obstacles. \nTopics covered include: \n\nRecognizing and managing gossip\nUnderstanding and implementing healthy boundaries\nPuberty\, hormones\, and emotions\nRelationships and consent\nPlus so much more……..\n\n  \nPrerequisite: Bring your curiosity\, questions\, and sense of humor.
